Jodie Guest

Dr. Guest joined the faculty of both the Rollins School of Public Health and the School of Medicine at Emory University as a full-time professor in the fall of 2015. Prior to this, she served as Director of HIV Research at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, where she led more than 40 HIV-related studies and co-founded the HIV Atlanta VA Cohort Study (HAVACS). During this time, she also held a joint appointment as Associate Professor in both the School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory. She currently serves on the faculty of the CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) program and is the Associate Program Director for the Emory Physician Assistant Program.

A prominent leader in Emory’s health sciences community, Dr. Guest serves as faculty counselor to the Emory Board of Trustees’ Woodruff Health Sciences Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of Health Emory. She is the Director of Emory’s Office of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice and leads a cross-disciplinary course spanning the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Public Health. She was the 2025 Research Impact Fellow with Emory’s Office of Research Administration, focusing on public scholarship. Dr. Guest previously chaired the Rollins School of Public Health Faculty Council and currently serves as the 2026-2027 President of the University Senate and Chair of the University Faculty Council. She chaired the National LGBTQ Health Conference at Emory in both 2019 and 2024. In the city of Atlanta, she serves on the Mayor’s LGBTQ Advisory Board, where she is a member of the executive committee and tri-chair of the LGBTQ Health Committee. She also serves as the city’s Public Health Advisor for MPOX.

She also directs the Emory Farmworker Project, Emory's longest running and largest community engagement and interprofessional education initiative, delivering annual healthcare services to farmworker communities in South Georgia. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Guest founded and led Emory’s COVID-19 Outbreak Response Team, working in Hall County and other hard-hit areas across Georgia from 2020 to 2023. A frequent contributor to national media, she also hosted Emory’s weekly COVID-19 Facebook Live updates.
